Introducing Illuminate, a behavioral health collective.

Get accessible and personalized behavioral healthcare tailored to the unique needs of foster children and their families, available in-person or from the comfort of your home.

Our approach

Our team of experienced professionals specialize in working with foster children and their families, combining applied behavior analysis evidence-based practices, trauma-resilient strategies, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). We recognize the unique challenges faced by foster children, including the impacts of trauma, transitions, and complex family dynamics.

Through a holistic approach, we integrate these therapeutic modalities to address the specific needs of each child and family we serve. This comprehensive framework allows us to provide personalized support that fosters healing, growth, and resilience. Our commitment is to empower foster children and families by cultivating strengths, enhancing emotional well-being, and promoting stability in their lives.

Our mission.

At Illuminate Behavioral Consulting, we believe wholeheartedly that there's no such thing as a bad kid. Every child, regardless of their past or present challenges, possesses inherent worth and potential. Our mission is to create spaces where foster children feel seen, heard, and valued, and where their unique strengths can shine. We understand that foster children often face a complex combination of trauma, loss, and instability, which can manifest in challenging behaviors. However, we view these behaviors as signals of unmet needs, not as flaws or failures.

Starting Care:

Starting services is more than a step—it’s a commitment to building stability, fostering healing, and unlocking the potential within every child.

1. Reach Out to Us

Click the “Contact Us” button to get our contact information and fill out the online form. Share some basic information about your child and family’s needs. Please allow up to 48 hours for our team to review your submission and connect with you.

2. Consult Call + Initial Meeting

We will schedule an initial meeting, typically held over the phone or via Google Meets. During this conversation, a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) will discuss your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and any challenges you’re experiencing. We’ll also talk about how we can provide tailored support that aligns with your family’s goals and your child’s unique needs.

3. Gather Necessary Documents + Sign Forms

We’ll guide you in signing and gathering any required paperwork to start services, such as referral forms, diagnostic assessments, and insurance details (if applicable). For foster families, this may also include placement agreements or caseworker documentation. Don’t worry—we’ll handle the submission process and support you in navigating these steps.

4. Schedule an Initial Assessment

Once the initial paperwork is complete, we’ll schedule a comprehensive 1-2 hour assessment. A BCBA will visit your home to observe, assess, and discuss your child’s specific needs and behaviors. This is an essential step in understanding their unique experiences and developing a personalized treatment plan.

5. Create a Custom Treatment Plan

After the assessment, we’ll design a personalized plan to meet the unique needs of your child and family. This plan will include specific goals, trauma-informed strategies, and tools to address emotional, social, and behavioral challenges while building on your child’s strengths.

6. Begin Services

Once everything is finalized, your journey with us begins! You’ll meet with your BCBA to set a schedule and start sessions. This is also when we’ll schedule your first caregiver engagement session, providing 1-on-1 time with your BCBA to ensure ongoing collaboration and alignment in supporting your child’s progress.

We’re here to make this process as seamless as possible so you can focus on what matters most—helping your child thrive.

Our multidisciplinary team comprises highly skilled professionals who are well-versed in a range of therapeutic approaches. Our integrated model combines applied behavior analysis evidence-based practices, trauma-resilient strategies, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). By drawing from these diverse therapeutic modalities, we create a comprehensive framework that addresses the unique needs of each individual we serve.

Applied behavior analysis forms the foundation of our approach, utilizing scientifically proven techniques to understand and modify behaviors. We tailor interventions to target specific goals and outcomes, promoting positive changes in behavior and skill development.

Additionally, our team recognizes the importance of addressing trauma and its impact on individuals' well-being. We employ trauma-resilient strategies that are designed to provide support and facilitate healing, fostering a sense of safety and empowerment.

Incorporating acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), we emphasize mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based living. This therapeutic approach encourages individuals to develop psychological flexibility, allowing them to navigate difficult emotions, thoughts, and experiences with resilience. By aligning actions with personal values, individuals can cultivate a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

At the core of our practice is the belief that each person is unique, and their needs should be met with an individualized approach. We collaborate closely with individuals, their families, and support networks to design personalized interventions that are tailored to their specific circumstances and aspirations. By fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust and respect, we create a nurturing environment where individuals can thrive and achieve their goals.
